Brett McChesney, COO

Brett McChesney, B.S., RRT, is the chief operating officer for Helen M. Simpson Rehabilitation Hospital. He provides administrative governance management to the hospital and ensures continued operations of patient services.

With more than 20 years of health care experience, Brett held senior management positions at two national hospital systems, ten years as the director of quality and risk management for Encompass Health (formerly HealthSouth), and three years as the director of quality management for Select Medical focusing on rehabilitation. Prior to that, he worked for ten years as a bedside registered respiratory therapist for acute care, skilled nursing, critical illness recovery and rehabilitation hospitals throughout central Pennsylvania, including Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Lancaster General Hospital and Encompass Health.

Brett earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from Juniata College and an associate degree in respiratory therapy from Harrisburg Area Community College (HACC). He is completing a master's degree in health care administration at Purdue University.

Brett is a member of the Hospital Association of Pennsylvania, American Medical Rehabilitation Providers Association, National Board for Respiratory Care, and the Pennsylvania Society for Respiratory Care. Brett is a past senior member of HACC's advisory board and taught its critical care curriculum.
