About Your Stay

  • The Helen M. Simpson Rehabilitation Hospital’s goal is to help patients reach their functional goals, while providing the highest level of post-acute medical care in a caring and culturally sensitive environment. We are devoted to the rehabilitation of patients with various disorders and conditions such as stroke, amputation, brain injury, neurological disorders, spinal cord injury, orthopedic and musculoskeletal conditions. Additionally, our specialized rehabilitation programs are designed to meet the needs of individuals who have a broad range of acute or chronic illness that cause temporary or permanent disability.

Our multi-disciplinary team approach is centered on a dedicated staff of physicians, rehabilitation nurses, physical, occupational and respiratory therapists, speech-language pathologists, neuropsychologists, case managers, dietitians, and other support personnel. The team delivers highly integrated and individualized programs of care to support patient recovery and goal attainment.

    Your Bed

Designed for your comfort, your bed can be raised or lowered electronically to the position which is most comfortable for you. For your safety, do not get in and out of bed without help when the bed is in a “high” position, or when you are weak and the side rails are up. Use the call button to summon help from our nursing staff.

    In-room Storage

Feel free to use the closet and drawers in your room, designated door or window, according to where your bed is located.

    Television and Telephone

Televisions are provided in each patient room. Please be considerate of others by keeping the volume down and turning off your TV after 11 p.m. The nursing staff can provide you with headphones or a pillow speaker to minimize the sound.

Telephones are provided in all patient rooms. Your friends and family may call you directly at the phone in your room between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. You may make calls from your room at anytime. Cell phone service is also available in the hospital.

    Electrical Appliances

Electric razors and hair dryers are permitted in your room after they have been approved for safety by our staff. No other electrical appliances are allowed.

    Valuables

If you cannot send valuables home, you should secure them in the hospital safe. Your nurse can provide you with more information. All personal items retained at the bedside are the sole responsibility of the patient.

    Smoking

PinnacleHealth is a tobacco-free facility. Recognizing the health and safety risks caused by smoking, PinnacleHealth maintains a tobacco-free environment in all its buildings, grounds, parking areas, and vehicles. There are no designated smoking areas on any campus.

Patients who smoke will be offered alternatives, including bedside smoking cessation and nicotine alternatives. Please talk to your physician or nursing staff about such alternatives.

    Personal Care Products

As you settle into your room, your nurse will bring you a kit of personal care products, a basin and a water pitcher. There is a charge for these items. These articles will appear on your hospital bill, and they are yours to take home.

    Meals

PinnacleHealth offers a personalized dining service for our patients.
