Gay Plastina, Director of Quality Management

Gay Plastina is the Director of Quality Management at Helen M. Simpson Rehabilitation Hospital. In this role since 2021, Gay oversees hospital quality measures, regulatory readiness and patient safety.

Gay began her nursing career at Helen M. Simpson first as a floor nurse before serving as a supervising charge nurse. She spent time working in long-term care as a supervisor and nursing educator as well as in home health as a clinical manager before returning to Helen M. Simpson Rehabilitation Hospital to fill her current role. Prior to becoming a nurse, Gay spent 15 years working as a computer software engineer.

Gay earned a master’s degree in nursing for nursing education and leadership from University of Phoenix and holds an associate’s degree in nursing from Harrisburg Area Community College. She also earned a bachelor’s degree in business information systems from the University of Colorado. Gay is currently pursuing her doctorate in nursing practice at Aspen University.

Gay is a member of the Association of Rehabilitation Nurses and obtained certification in rehabilitation nursing in 2014. She also holds certifications in wound care and as a certified dementia practitioner.
